Spider-Man: Homecoming ATM Heist Battle
Marvel and LEGO’s latest Spidey-combo is the Homecoming ATM Heist Battle, released in June 2017. For less than £20, this set has a lot going for it, with the bank’s moveable parts swinging open for those wanting indoor Spidey action, and a neat motorbike for the villain’s getaway chase sequence.
Buy now from LEGO Shop UK – just £19.99
Both baddies are equipped with great Hulk and Captain America masks alongside the latest Chitauri alien tech, not to mention Spider-Man’s web-shooters, a brand-new addition to the LEGO world! Whilst this set doesn’t come with any big-name baddies, its uniqueness brings great fun.
The set comes in at £19.99 from LEGO Shop UK, cheaper than any of the other sets today, and with 185 Pieces and 3 Mini-Figures you should web this up whilst it’s still in stock.
- LEGO set: #76082
- Ages: 6-12
- Pieces: 185 (Approx. 10p per piece)
- Minis: 3 (Spidey, Captain America Crook, Hulk Crook)
- Difficulty: Easy
Spider-Man: Doc Ock’s Tentacle Trap
One of the largest sets for review is Doc Ock’s Tentacle Trap, the second largest Spider-Man set to date. This one is a great build, with the massive Octo-Bot at over 7” tall, and a neat speedboat for towing Spidey on his new surfboard.
Buy now from Amazon UK
There are significantly more pieces in this set than ATM Heist Battle, giving us 5 Mini-Figures in total, and totalling 446-pieces altogether. As a result, you get a much longer build time, which always adds to the enjoyment.
Doc Ock’s mech gives lots of playability, there are writhing arms to fight Spidey, shooters, and lots of moving parts to pose it for those wanting a nice shelf display. For the master-builders out there you have lots of new colours that aren’t so common, which can be utilised in your own creations.
The set comes in at £49.99 from LEGO Shop UK, containing 446 Pieces total, but at time of review was cheapest at Amazon UK. Being such a bulky and re-usable set, Doc Ock’s Tentacle Trap is definitely one for both collectors and casual fans.
- LEGO set: #76059
- Ages: 7-14
- Pieces: 446
- Minis: 5 (Spidey, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, White Tiger, Captain Stacy)
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Tanker Truck Takedown
Next on the list is a slightly older set, released in August 2016 at part of the Captain America: Civil War set. The main benefit of this set is its compatibility with the Super Hero Airport Battle set, completing the famous Civil War fight sequence.
Buy now from LEGO Shop UK – just £39.99
Unfortunately, this set has less pieces than the Tentacle Trap, and also less Mini-Figures (four in total), so the extra tenner here can only be justified if you’re after the exploding truck! (Yes, you read that right). With each of the characters you get also get some great accessories, with a bow and arrow for Hawkeye, Captain America’s shield, along with webs and capes for the other crusaders.
The set comes in at £39.99 from LEGO Shop UK, containing 330 Pieces total. With just the 4 Mini-Figures, Tanker Truck Takedown is best when combined with other builds.
- LEGO set: #76067
- Ages: 6-12
- Pieces: 330 (Appx £0.12p per piece)
- Minis: 4 (Spidey, Hawkeye, Captain America, Vision)
- Difficulty: Easy
Beware the Vulture
Next up is another set released in June 2017, Beware the Vulture, which brings us a great action-packed build! In time for Spider-Man: Homecoming we have the main set from the film, containing all four main characters; Spidey, Iron Man, Shocker and most importantly, Vulture.
Buy now from The Entertainer UK – just £40.49 (
£44.99 RRP) + free delivery
For just 50p more than the Tanker Truck set, we get a really great combination of items. Our main love is Vulture’s wings, measuring at 7” long, with two guns and they’re fully detachable. Alongside that great piece is Shocker and his DODC (Department of Damage Control) van, equipped with a multi-shot turret! Whilst there aren’t as many Mini-Figures as we’d like, each is a character central to the film (shame that we have another Iron Man to add to the collection!)
The set comes in at £44.99 from LEGO Shop UK, containing 375 Pieces total, but is available for just £40.49 (with free delivery) at The Entertainer UK. With another Iron Man in the collection we’ll forgive LEGO, as this is a really great action-packed set.
- LEGO set: #76083
- Ages: 7-14
- Pieces: 375 (Approx. 10p per piece)
- Minis: 4 (Spidey, Vulture, Shocker, Iron Man)
- Difficulty: Easy
Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle
LEGO’s final product on our list today is the Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle, try and say that three times fast! Now this set is a bit of a behemoth, at close to 1,100 pieces, including seven Mini-Figures, which does take up a lot of space. For some, this may not be an issue, and understandably large sets give you more building time. However, that also means you need a decent place to store it, or you will have to be deconstruct it quite quickly.
The benefit to its size is in the creation and the play. This set has such an amazing range of playable parts, with three vehicles, numerous trap doors, capture-webs and secret hideouts to find. Our favourite of these being the web prison, Spider-Man’s secret trapdoor that stops the baddies once and for all!
With all its benefits, our only main concern is the numerous tiny parts, many of which could go missing, so this may be a build for the older age-range.
The set comes in at £99.99 from LEGO Shop UK, containing 1092 Pieces total, but is available for just £64.99 (with free delivery) at John Lewis or Smyths Toys. Although it may be the largest set, it is definitely the best value for your money, with tons to do and the lowest price per piece.
- LEGO set: #76057
- Ages: 8-14
- Pieces: 1,092 (Approx. 5p per piece)
- Minis: 7 (Spidey, Spider Girl, Scarlet Spider, Green Goblin, Scorpion, Kraven the Hunter and Aunt May)
- Difficulty: Average
